Leap Frog, Leap

Tired eyes opened slowly, taking the few minutes that she knew it took for her eyes to adjust to the light before finally parting them all the way to meet the light of the day. Fuzzy black muzzle opened to release a yawn, salmon colored tongue protruding just an inch or two before she finally closed her mouth with a tiny click. It was morning, a cool one at that, and it meant that her parents were most likely scurrying around in search of breakfast for the family and her siblings would soon be waking also, if they weren't already. Huffing quietly, Ember rolled herself from her back to her stomach, gathering her legs beneath her to push her body up to stand. A short stretch, a quick look around, and Ember was out and away from the den for a round of morning play.

It was one of those mornings that she'd gotten up just early enough to catch some of the other critters out and about, namely the first thing that caught her eye, the frog. The young girl paused a moment, watching the small green creature as it leaped mindlessly along, hardly paying attention to it's spectator. It seemed boring, really, just wandering about like that, and Ember was suddenly certain that it was in need of some entertainment. In a flash she was after the creature, barking like mad and chasing after it with each leap it took, which grew more frantic as Ember drew closer. The girl, of course, had no plans to hurt the thing, she only intended to give the creature the enjoyment of playing, which was why she kept after it, barking and giggling as she went along.
