Shawchert was quiet for some time, but he was listening to what Orin had to say and nodded, of course she wouldn’t know, just as someone wouldn’t know exactly what was inside a dark box unless it was opened. He was not too disappointed however, he didn’t mind the surprise. He pulled his hand away when the pups stopped moving, feeling a slightly embarrassed when he thought about Sky. Orin then requested him to play his flute, though he hesitated this time. He wasn’t sure how Sky would react to that, and he did turn to see her, as she was busying herself with her goat. He felt a pang in his heart, it was ripping him apart to the seams. He had two choices, Sky or the children and even though he had not met them he loved them dearly. Sky was the same. He didn’t think he could ever make a choice between them and he was glad that she seemed well enough to not make him do such a thing. He was shocked when Orin decided to let Sky in on the whole thing, which relieved Shawchert in so many ways. He watched as Sky walked over, casually and started talking about how many there could be or not, and that it was impossible to tell. He knew she was using her medical knowledge to cover over something, he knew what and he didn’t want to remind himself.

He could see her put her hand over Orin’s belly listing her reasons why she thought that Orin was having twins… two pups? He wasn’t sure how he could handle two pups, but it was a guess right? In any case he sat quietly still. Though he normally had something to say he was afraid to talk. He moved over beside Sky and put his hand on her shoulder and gave it a loving squeeze.

I think however many pups we get is great.

He said. He knew that if he and Sky were together that they would have pups and that was a small indication of him making a promise to Sky that she too would have pups one day, though quite subtle. He then moved back to where he had been sitting and started playing his flute again, for the pups yes, but for everyone else, especially Sky, but though he would normally play her lullaby, he refrained from doing so now. That was for the two of them now, and he wanted something like that just for them, no this was an older song, one of the first ones he made, it was simple, and a little crude, even though he had spruced it up a little since he got older, but it was still a very simple song. One that was easy on the ears. He played it for a little bit wondering if he woke the pups up, and unsure if he should keep waking them if that was indeed what was exciting them. He liked the fact that even though he could not hold them nor see them, nor feel them as Orin could, that he made an impact on them in some way.
