Amata nodded her approval of his response. He had learned his lesson and it seemed, he learned it well. She had a feeling the boy would not be getting up a tree any time soon. She could see him calculating what she said and couldn’t help but smile at his dumbfounded look.
“She has much more to worry about right now, besides, she’ll find out soon enough. Can’t hide a wound like that from a mother.”
She would know... She’s tried so many times in the past it was no use trying to hide any new hurts. She knew what it was like. She stayed close as he moved his hands over the snow and brought it to his face, her hand beneath his elbow just in case he fell, but he seemed to get up well enough, stopping when he needed to. She smiled, yes he would be fine, as long as he took things easy for the next few days and rested his body which would in no doubt be trying to heal any internal stuff that happened along the way. She started slowly letting herself move to his stride as they headed to the mansion to get him stitched up and taken care of. Poor pup, as if there wasn’t enough pain in the world right now.
