He scoffed. "I never said she didn't name me. I said my name was unimportant." Gruff words formed by an equally gruff voice. The male didn't take any notice of the stranger's change in voice. His own remained the same, no change in emotion or lack there of. He didn't bother to give her a name, listening to her laugh with perked wolf ears. "Yah sure, tell that to the others. Thin maybe." Thin. He snorted. Too thin. His emerald eyes moved back to the pond before him. There was nothing to look at that he hadn't seen before.

She was just walking, apparently not alone, though the wolfdog saw hide nor hair of the son she mentioned. His tail swished to the side in a show of faint irritation. "That is alone. Somewhere is not here. You have no company." His fingers clenched against his palms, followed by a deep breath that filled his white-and-black chest with air. A dance of words that left him exhausted already; he shook his head.
