He had told Ever as he was closing the door to their home that he would be around the kingdom if she needed him, but in reality, he was getting the hell out of here. The male had been sticking around Cour des Miracles for far too long, and couldn’t bear it anymore. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to be with Ever, quite the contrary, but he just… wanted to get out for a while. He wanted nothing more than to talk to a stranger, or perhaps an old acquaintance… anyone outside of his home. Since the storm Ezra hadn’t really left the kingdom and he felt nothing but cabin fever. He stayed in the territory to make sure Ever was okay, considering her broken wrist, and she needed his help. But he just wanted some time for himself and not really give a damn about anyone else for a while. It was selfish, and the wolfdog felt bad, but quickly ignored his nagging conscious. Ever was fine. He needed his own time and he was sure Ever would understand. And if she didn’t, well, it would blow over eventually.
Ezra could smell the borders of the kingdom, and the secui kept on running. He hadn’t gone on a run for ages it seemed and the thought was incredibly enticing. At the borders, he stopped momentarily to make sure no one was there, and then started running again. The snow was melting finally, and the slush underneath his feet was revitalizing. It felt so damn good to finally be by himself, to do his own thing, to get away for a while. The snow slowly started fading away as he reached the thickest part of the forest. It got significantly darker in here as sunlight was being filtered through the trees, though it wasn’t as bad as it was in summer. After Ezra was sure he was miles away from home, he slowed to a trot when he got to a particularly fast creek that was being fed by the melting snow and had a long, refreshing drink.
