[J] bang, bang, that awful sound

Private

Like stone, the silver wolf sat crouched still and silent. Watching. Waiting. Wondering when he would be lucky enough catch sight of her. Keese had been sure that she would come to him. Had the males not told her of their encounters? He questioned silently as a white finger absently came up to run along the thin scar over his brow. If he had his way, he would see that the black armed male would pay for marking him. Even if the mark would fade with time. Though unbeknownst to him, that particular male was well out of reach and far from the pack lands. No longer one of his queen's guard dogs.

The past weeks had been trying for the lone wolf. The snows had left him stranded in what ever wallow he could find as it had flowed endlessly from the sky. Only for the wind to scatter it in blinding blows that made it impossible for the stranger to navigate the lands that were still unfamiliar to him. Once the snow fall had stopped though, he found the blizzard left him with a great advantage. The packs would be too busy taking care of their own to notice a single lone trespasser and scent markers too far buried to give adequate warning. Giving him the perfect excuse had he been discovered as he had explored the territory that his queen supposedly called home. For now.

The cabin had been tricky to find the first time. Roofless and buried in drifts of snow over half way up its walls, but her handy work was unmistakable. While the dwelling had been abandoned during the storm he knew she would eventually return and so every few days he returned, slipping in and out between the rather regular border patrols. He was sure to take an obscure route. Staying away from the well worn paths that were used by the pack.

His diligence would eventually pay off and it wasn't long on this particular morning before he saw the amber hues of the Harleigh woman as approached the walls of her cabin and began to pull away the leathers that covered the bundled foliage that was once her roof. He watched her for a few moments, over coming the nerves he felt before he found his way to his feet. Straightening the leather duster on his shoulders he began to close the couple hundred yards between them. She would see him, he knew, but he also knew she was not a creature to sneak up on. The distance shrank to a few yards before she finally looked up and took notice of his presence. The surprise was clear to read on her face and he smiled back warmly. Her brows furrowed as he grew closer. "What are you doing here?" She asked. Tension laced her voice but he thought little of it. It wasn't as if she had left on good of terms after all. "I could ask you the same." He retorted, for these lands, as well as their inhabitants were far from earning his approval. This was no place for his lady.

His steps took him beyond the boundary of three paces that all were to keep from Anann (having no reason to think she might abandon such customs). A rule that had never applied to him. A privilege he took full advantage of. She eyed him a bit suspiciously as he approached, but he shrugged it off. His hand still reach for one of hers, which she reluctantly gave and though she resisted against him at first he pulled her to him, looking up slightly to meet her umber hued eyes. "What do you want, Keese?" "You know what I want." His other hand came up to finger at the strands of mane she had allowed to grow in his absence. A sign, whether she was aware of it or not, that she had left her warring days behind. His other arm wrapped around her, holding close. Though she was tense and giving in to the embrace as she once had. "These lands," he started his voice heavy and luring like a honey sweetened venom as his fingers toyed with a curl of her hair, "you don't belong here. It's time to come home, Anann. Time to be done with this foolishness and take you proper place." His hand moved to brush against her cheek but she turned away and placed her own hand at his chest in an effort to push him away. Though he still held her.

"I told you, I'm not going back."
