He had sheathed his knife and he had made his final statements. But the bastard man did not want to back down. Venom ran from his mouth like some blood curled froth and the Russo had no choice but to keep a watch on him. Except his true focus was Anann, and he turned to her, taking a few steps at her as he tried to smile. "Anann.. are you okay? Did he-" But his words were cut off as he heard the other man speak, ears twitching at the insults. He had half turned toward him when the grey beast had lunged himself into the tall Russian. Naturally, Anatoliy had been caught so unaware that he stumbled to a knee a little bit away. He had thrown off the man, but he was clutching his side in silence as gold eyes burned with raging fire.

Anatoliy kept his knife away; he would not bloody it with a fool's life, even if it was obvious it had to end. Blood would not be on his hands; it would be on someone else's, someone with the authority to end a life like that. It would not be on him, never on him. The only lives he took were the lives of the fish and of the animals he hunted to keep his own lifeblood running.

"Your life is not mine to take, zhough how I vould love to vatch zhem rip your heart out." Someone ought to. The most Anatoliy would do is make the pickings easier. The Russo rose to full height, then lunged at the other man, trying to grab for his knife hand, to disable it or to fling it away. Anann rushed at them, trying to pull them apart, but he tried to skirt her, to keep her from getting hurt. He would not have her injured here; it was not her he wanted dead. He wanted her alive and by his side.
