Slade hadn't exactly been in a good mood that day, either, but he was blissfully unaware of the danger lurking in his own pack. Instead the reason for his sour mood was the fact that he had spent the previous night awake well past midnight, dreaming up more of his stories because he couldn't get to sleep and didn't feel like trying to. He had hardly been asleep for an hour before the bright light of dawn made resting impossible. The coyote was a short walk away from Thornbury but wasn't in the mood to visit. He was tired. He was groggy. He just wanted to sleep.

The day passed in a blur until Slade picked up a howl. Oh great. Of all days, today was the day Shawchert wanted to call a meeting. There was something about the leader's howl that said that this was an important, maybe even urgent matter. Still somewhat groggy, Slade began to trudge to Thornbury, trying to sprint but finding himself too tired.

As soon as he arrived, he stiffened, suddenly alert. A heavy tension hung in the air. Shawchert was pacing. Nearby, Sky, Mars and Krystalle, all Luperci who Slade had met briefly before, didn't look happy. Mars's arms were crossed. Slade immediately got the sense that something terrible had happened, and Krystalle asked the question that was on his mind: What type of drama had went on here?

He was vaguely aware of Skye Collins, also someone who he had met, approaching, and he subconsciously noticed that he was the only lupus there. It didn't matter; the pack's feelings were obviously mutual: hatred and fury. Slade could share the feeling as well, even though he didn't know what was going on. He had joined this pack because of its love for art and because it was fairly new and peaceful; if someone was stirring up drama, the rest of the pack wasn't going to stand it.
