The Aquila's daughter watched with outraged caution as she circled the silver creature. Who was she calling filth, the Italian asked, and Talitha could only smile a plastic smile. "You. And your kind, little wolf. I'm so tired of you ugly things destroying perfectly good lives." It wasn't the fault of the woman before her — she didn't even know her — but it felt right to shoot angry words toward her. She couldn't yell at her father, after all, and it would be poor judgement if she took her rage out on Ezekiel. The unsuspecting wolves in and around her life were more deserving. Without them, she might have survived the Dahlian war unscathed. Without them, she might have been happy. Somehow, beneath all of the ashy coating and personal faults, it was their fault.
