She made no move to reject his approach, although a simple gesture from her tensed body could have sent him into retreat. He was not here with revenge on his mind - He had not sought to find her at all. But now that he had, the male entertained notions of nearness, and she allowed them.

Caillen did not know what he sought from her. There was something... Something he needed to say, some sentiment that brought sharpness to his cold blue eyes. They continued to gaze worthlessly back at violent, questioning rubies.

Then it occurred to him, so simple. So ironic that it almost made him want to laugh, to lie here and laugh at her and at his whole pathetic life. He had been a dreamer once, but now his head was empty; So empty.

Jaws parted to reveal large white teeth. So much had been wasted on this male, that had lived his life without knowing the art of war. He'd been given the weaponry of a master, but the mind of a poor fool, and that was where he had remained. Perhaps he could have been blinded to the cruelty of the world forever, but she had come along and changed that. They all had.

"Thank you." His voice was rusty from misuse, the brogue once-charming turned gravelly and distant. She had killed the dreamer, and in doing so, had allowed him to live. He had that to be grateful for.
