smile when you're not supposed to laugh

Sorry for the terrible lateness. I have no excuse for such. Also apologies that it's not a book like usual, gotta get back into the groove of writing for Ka.

When the boy sat the giant made the effort and forced himself into a sitting position as well. It was the polite thing to do plus standing would've made things awkward in his mind. Tucking his hands neatly in the center of his folded legs like a child he watched the other page through his book. A small smile spread across black lips as Matteo agreed with his liking, if only others shared the same interest. Maybe then he wouldn't be so nervous.

Apparently something he said was humorous as a smile triggered on the lad's face and he went on correcting him about these "vampires." Very odd creatures indeed, blood sucking and living at night. Fascinating, just fascinating even if they weren't real. Besides, fiction always seemed better than reality, no? The small smile carved into a neutral line then into an all out frown. Teach him to read? Oh, no, he simply couldn't impose on such a seemingly nice gent like the lad in front of him for something as trivial as reading.

"Oh, n-no. I cannot give such a challenge to a perfectly good stranger, t-that'd be down right rude."

Besides, something like this involved trust, something the wolfdog had little of. He couldn't give that out to anybody, now could he?
