It was difficult to contain her. Elvira simply wouldn’t stand for her freedom being impended. This was why it was normally Elijah that was hidden away from her and her “bullying” tendencies. The colliepup would raise hell if anyone tried to drop her in a box and leave her there for hours on end. She’d always escape anyway. Violence, thus far, seemed the answer to all of life’s little problems. She was still plump and awkward on her feet, sliding across the slick surface of any bare floor if she moved too quickly, but she was getting better and better at walking. She was getting bigger too.

The bedroom door had been left open a crack and Elvira pushed her way through the opening, wriggling out into the hallway. Only a few moments later she reached a roadblock: stairs. Glaring at the peculiar mountain descending down toward further freedom, she paced back and forth at the edge, pouting disdainfully. She snarled, as though an overt show of aggression would solve her problem for her, but it did nothing save echo around the barren walls.

Undeterred, she slowly leaned forward, awkwardly sliding to the top stair as though she were made of liquid rather than puppyflesh. This continued until she was nearly halfway down. She could see the ground floor of the hotel stretching out before her now.
