The cigarette was gone faster than she liked and it left her tense as their meeting continued on. Mars didn't seem any more comfortable. She tapped sharp claws upon the surface of their makeshift table, looking at anything and everything except for the Russo himself. At least until he managed a coherent, sensible sentence. He wanted to be there for them. His reasoning was flawed, but the point was clearly made. She settled her eyes upon him, yet remained silent. He wanted to be there, so they wouldn't suffer without a father. Krystalle admired his dedication, but wondered if his choice would cause more pain than it was worth. She didn't love the pups she carried, but she wasn't so heartless to see them suffer at the hands of their father.
A whistle from the teapot startled her. Mars stood, moving away from the table to tend to the tea as she watched him. He seemed so strangely pathetic. Was it really so bad? She couldn't imagine it was, and it left her depressed to think he was taking the news so hard. After all, she was the one who truly suffered for it. He could run off, and she wouldn't chase him again, which left her with children she knew she couldn't raise. But he wanted to be there. She sighed, prepared to give him a reassuring answer as he opened his mouth and asked about their missing cup. Almost immediately, her face turned to something guilty. Pink eyes darted away and her shoulders slumped downward. She knew where the cup was.
"Kinda threw it at Barty...two weeks ago, maybe."
