It was a wonderful day. There were a few fluffy white clouds hanging around in the sky, the bright, blinding sun peering around them. The warm ball of light cast sunshine all around the land and caused the temperatures to rise rapidly - a lot warmer than it had been the day before and the day before that of course. Spring was finally coming, and one of the ones who was enjoying it most was a small brown she-wolf named Alaska. She stretched out on her side deep in the forest, soaking in the sunlight through her dark fur (which attracted more sunlight that light colored fur, scientifically). Her stomach was full with a fat, juicy hare she had caught earlier. Lazy green eyes fell closed and she let out a happy sigh. Exhaustion was not a problem. Alaska was actually filled with a bunch of energy. She was just resting, soaking up whatever sunlight she could get. It was the best day she had experienced in months.

Letting a lazy yawn escape chocolate colored mouth, she suddenly heard something from somewhere near her. Yes, she was only a young girl, but she had been taught well by her parents and she had been living alone for almost three months now. She was nowhere near professional, but she was learning, teaching herself with everything she once saw her parents do. Truthfully, Alaska didn't want to move. She wanted to stay and soak up every little ray of sun that fell across the sky. But she couldn't just stay here. Lazily she let out another yawn, revealing ivory white fangs. Carelessly, she stretched her agile white-streaked paws (in this case hands) out in front of her, then grabbed a branch hanging overhead to push herself up.

Another rustle came from the thick undergrowth. Cowering back slightly, Alaska stared at the bushes with bright emerald eyes. If some massive giant wolf appeared from the bushes with murderous intentions, then she would have nothing to do but run and hope that she could survive until the next day. If it was some smaller wolf with good thoughts, she wouldn't run... but she would still hope to survive until the next day. She was just a girl and had survived this far, but she needed a pack soon. She thought of calling out. Choose your battles, her mind told her. Was this a battle she wanted to fight out - howling out to see who was there? Yes, it was, because she was in need of a home and in need of some friends and in need of some food. So it may just work out. Carefully, she opened her mouth and called out quietly in her small voice. "Hello? Is anyone there?"
