A loud yelp erupted from the females’ throat as she stopped to inspect the foreign object that had so painfully cut into her foot. Her eyes scanned her foot with an intense show of displeasure. Not only for the rock that had sliced a cut into the pad of her foot but allowing herself to let out a yelp. Frustration and anger threatened to flare across her brow even though the offending object wouldn’t react to such a show. Was she becoming too happy and forgetful these days? Having her handsome Theo around had done much to ease her defenses knowing a capable male would protect her. She sat, crossing her leg over the other to inspect the damage closer.

It hurt, quite a bit, and her eyes closed for a moment regaining what little composure she had as of late. She was getting weak, all the submissive, lady like actions that her new found relationship had dredged up reminded her of why she had built an impressive façade over her form. The facts where all there, in this world she was tiny, her frame was not built to fight, nor was it the greatest on four legs for hunting large game. Physically she was probably the least likely to ever win a fight even against other females. No her power had been built up slowly with her mind, the appearance of power and the ability to push it on others without giving them a chance to analyze her was the game she did so well. Sometimes the appearance of danger was enough to persuade even the biggest males to leave her alone.

But now she sat rather insignificantly, bothered by a minor cut that threatened to make her shift to all fours and continue on in that manner. She cleaned the cut and debated on ripping a bit of her skirt to cover it. That thought alone brought a flurry of stubbornness across her frame, she loved the pink skirt she currently wore, and tearing it would only render it useless. But if she was going to collect samples of the fauna up at the base of the mountain she’d have to, or return back to Teddy’s den empty handed and be the silly girl she never wanted to be. She huffed in frustration, a seemingly meaningless thing of ripping a skirt causing her to stay in the area way to long.

A sharp rip echoed through the hollow followed almost reactively by a roar. Fear something Demi hadn’t experienced in a long time crept up her back and along her neck, the fur there fluffing up in a defensive posture. Again her guard had been let down; the female who spent so much time monitoring her social interactions had forgotten to pay much attention to where she was, or better yet what animal she had encroached upon. Demi’s head swiveled slowly around to her back, blue eyes looking through the bush at two burning embers focused directly on her. Fear had a way of rendering her immobile, she wanted to cry out, wished Teddy would come storming out of the brush in all his glory to protect her, but she was alone, facing an angry mother bear freshly woken up from her winter sleep, with two cubs by her side. If there was a worse situation for the tiny woman, she didn’t know it.

She carefully tried to inch herself off the rock, so she could sprint away fast enough to change forms, but her movements were detected almost as soon as she thought them as another growl of warning escaped the bears lips. Fortune if there was such a thing was on her side, the mother bear was just as cautious as she was to enter a conflict but the odds were against Demi, along with a few hundred pounds. A tear fell down her cheek in silent terror, knowing that she was most certainly doomed even as her feet sprang forward to try and spring away, the bear erupting in a sprint after her. Those two shapely legs of hers, her body which had brought her power just from its looks served her very little purpose in this race. The wound on her foot hampered her even more as she was forced into a sort of skip and stride that afforded her no speed whatsoever. Her only chance was to get back to more populated Anathema lands where hopefully someone could help her.

But it was never meant to be, thinking herself free as she hoped from one rock to another a force slammed into her, the claws of the bear digging deep into her side, as her head slammed into the ground under the full weight of the bear. Her ears pinned back against her head as some form of fight boiled to the surface as she snarled, her own paws trying desperately to dig into anything of substance.
