The boy had never known such fragility before the pups had been born. The Prince and Princesses were the most important aspect of the house hold, and the most precious beings in his life. Alder did not wish to know the world without them, nor the consequences of one becoming hurt in his presence. He held onto the little wolfess as she clung to the case. His heart beat rapidly, maw parted as he began to sweat with fear. The boy was a fine babysitter, but in times of unruliness or stubbornness he went as limp as a wash cloth and had now true idea of how to handle them. Even for a small creature such as this his first instinct was to roll over.

Haven's tone had told him that the situation was under control, yet he heard the stern correction and understood if the pup was upset and cried and turned to hide. Just as he would have if his mother had ever yelled at him.
