Sorry for the wait! >< WC: 506

It wasn't often that Sage heard a feral, howling call. Inferni only used these for important pack gatherings and such, but besides that, she rarely heard a howl for anything at all. But the sun was above her head when she heard the voice echo through the trees and, instinctively, she followed it.

The Dampwood were pleasant in spring, and life was starting to return to the place, much to the girl's liking. Atop the large Gypsy Vanner horse she had named Lennon, Sage rode, following the howl and the foreign scent which accompanied it. She wasn't far from Inferni, but she was far enough that she wasn't terribly alarmed by the smell of a stranger. Closer to the border, and she may have been on edge.

The Lykoi hippie was heading out today, but as always she wasn't sure where. Perhaps answering this lonely call would be her only errand for the day, or perhaps it would turn into something else.

The tawny girl lifted a hand to pull the hair back from her face as her legs squeezed Lennon's sides to increase his speed slightly. She didn't want to spend all day somewhere, she thought, but visiting a couple nearby areas might be fun. As she closed in on the source of the strange scent and sound, Sage thought the scent sounded familiar, though it wasn't one she'd spent much time around.

She brought Lennon happily around the river bend, a marijuana cigarette between her lips. With a dazed expression, she glanced around as they slowly moved. Was that blood she smelled? Fish? Large chocolate ears perked at the prospect of food as her haze-induced hunger nagged at her.

Sun-colored eyes widened as her gaze finally stopped on a young wolf. He was certainly younger than her, perhaps less than a year, but not terribly young, either. Against the forest colored by spring, he stood out. A stark white, full blooded wolf on four legs with striking blue eyes. She wasn't used to seeing someone so comfortably using that four-legged form, and she wondered if this one could even use only two legs at all. Curious, she watched, and then approached, letting herself be known with the obvious (but not overly loud) clearing of her throat.

"Hello?" she called out from Lennon's back. "Were you the one that called?"

Sage's head tilted in curiosity as she took a slow drag from the joint between her fingers. Why would he have called? It had been a happy invitation, but it was still so odd. She would not insult, of course; but she would wonder about it.

"Quite the good spot for fish, isn't it?" she asked brightly, head tilting to motion towards the river.

The girl was unsure whether she should dismount yet; the young boy seemed non-threatening so far, but she remembered her lesson with the warrior Ezekiel. She should always keep her wits about her; though the whites of her eyes were pink, they were still alert and cautious.
