M - Knight in shining armour

Charlemagne and him where off on a trot around the borders of Dahlia today, indeed his mighty war horse turned beast of burden, friend had made his life a lot easier since he had saved him. The relationship between rider and horse was complicated, it was more of a mutual arrangement, the horse may not have had the ability to converse with him in high speak but there where subtle clues between the two that shown their understanding of each other. Once such was the way Charlemagne would get irritated and a simple pat on his neck would subdue him. Saluce could only wonder if it was out of reluctance that his mount joined him, or if he was just paying his debt owed to him. Already the behemoth already contemplated heading north to the area he had found him and seeking a female companion for him. Charlemagne was the only one of his kind he’d seen in the area and being as lonely for a female’s company as he was it didn’t take him long to figure out it out.

“One day, you’ll have a filly to suit your bravery” the man offered him, and with a silent look given back to Saluce the horse only blew hot air out of his nose in a show of male bravado. Saluce on the other hand had no such luck, while his return to Dahlia had been pleasant he still wasn’t sure of the women here. There was Farore, but she drove him nuts, more like insane, she had a way with words that just cut right into him and exposed him for what he was. Just like her sister except without the restraint and caring she had. Alae was just too absorbed in her own chores to be bothered. No just like his horse Saluce had no filly at home to keep him company.

Charlemagne tossed his head in annoyance just then, Saluce had heard it too, a thundering of hooves heading their direction. The horse under him almost bristled with hostility along with its rider and it took no spur to the beast’s side to motivate him to ride off toward the approaching horse. The ground shook with the spasms of an earth quake as the two took off, the weight of both rider and horse shaking the very foundations of some small saplings as they rode past. Finally he expertly cut the horse off, noticing the lack of a rider, but it did not deter him, after all a horse running in this fashion meant it’s rider couldn’t be too far away. It happened quickly, the behemoth raised up off his saddle and jumped onto the side of the running horse, his hand grasping the lead and wrapping it around his arm before he gave a huge grunt and tugged the lead causing the horses head to jerk backward in an authoritive fashion. A loud growl emitted from the half crazed man’s throat, menacing, the purpose was to strike fear, and that it did. The horse quickly attempted a buck but Charlemagne was there and he shoved the horse sideways and blocked his escape while Saluce stood back up on the ground, his tall frame coming eye to eye with the wild horse, fiery blues giving it the gaze of authority. Only then did it calm itself, finding the Devil in front of it, and his henchman to his side.

“I should kill and eat you” Saluce told the horse, knowing full well the intent behind the words, no matter if it understood them or not would still be understood. He was just about to lash it for all the effort it took to corral it when a peculiar scent hit his nose. Saluce brought the lead rope up to his nose, taking in a long breath before letting it fall again. Mmmhmm the horse had an owner and he’d have to return him no matter how pissed he was he’d not harm it unless it caused more trouble. But the scent spoke of someone female and he couldn’t pass up the chance to be a knight in shining armour, well a paladin at least. But it was in the details. He gave his mount a look and within seconds he was by his side, Saluce mounted, took a firm grasp of the lead and headed back in the direction the wild mustang had come from. The once free horse only walked sullenly beside, trying to fall behind but firm tugs of his lead had a way of getting his will power back in action.
