The darkness caressed him, a wanton lover, pulling shadows over its kin - The Hunter sat poised, silent.
The land whispered around him, holding baited breath for the oncoming dawn. This new world seemed still; emptied of life, but not barren - A silver goblet waiting to be filled with the violent burgundy of wine. Alone he sat amongst its folds, a creature born of the crafty shadows and the cold, wild ocean wind. Cunning eyes glowed with mineral intent amongst the ravenswing shadows, and he cast them momentarily to the sky above. Stars, tiny pinpricks of silver blood, began to fade in the steadily bleaching sky. The sun, an ominous golden eye that gazed balefully at the insignificant mortals below, had not yet breached the chains of the underworld, and night still ruled here.
But not for long. A new ruler was rising.
The Revlis male rose abruptly, and began to pace. His mind anxiously sought the figures he knew were coming, picturing them each with perfect clarity, whispering sweet seductions to each with the Hunter's voice. He had corrupted them all, but it was with the cold love of the reptile; He needed them, each and every one. They were the chosen - They were the Family.
A dark shaman would be leading them, and as always, thoughts of her possessed him with a unique longing. By her hands he had made this thing, this wicked and wonderful thing, and with her help he would let the weeds bloom, fresh within an empty ribcage ready for planting. Thistle lined the lonely man, scattered about his elegantly cream-gloved paws - It was a treacherous plant, barbed and resilient, and for it he had named the land he had claimed.
The time had come, time to reel in the spiderwebs Sirius had lain with such expertise precision. The time had come - Salsola awaited.
