Desi strode into the pasture, only one thing on her mind: Saluce. She was eager to see him again, even though it had not been more than a few days. She had had a magnificent time with him, and she wanted to repeat the experience. She also was due for another weaponry lesson. Still, she paused first to greet Galilahi, her mother's mare, with a pat and a scratch at the top of her head, right near her forelock, before she moved on to Fuerte. She had done as Saluce had suggested and taken the stallion out for long gallops across the pasture or even occasionally to the beaches to the north, and Fuerte was much more tractable than he had been before. Though perhaps it had something to do with the fact that in the Andalusian's eyes, the merled lady had saved his life from the big grey savage.
As she approached the silvery horse, she found that she was not alone in the pasture. A tawny brown male with eyes of pure white was apparently playing with one of the other horses. She was not sure which horse it was, only that she was a mare, but the equine appeared to be having fun. Fuerte and J'adore's other horses (which had been introduced to her as 'Quera and Inez) were watching raptly, seeming to be garnering enjoyment even though they themselves were not the ones playing. Desi patted both 'Quera and Inez, and then clucked to Fuerte as she approached him. The stallion nudged her playfully, his forehead against her chest and she tugged gently on his ears before patting him and leading him off toward the stable. It was time she groomed him.
True it might have been one of the Elan Soquili's jobs to do so, but Desi figured that in the same way as a mother licking her pups fostered love and trust between parent and offspring, taking an active role in his care might make Fuerte trust her even more than what he already seemed to do. One arm raised to rest on the horse's back as they walked. Finally they were seeming to be a team.
