I feel it there beyond those trees.

The last thing Slade expected to see during his walk outside the pack's borders was a dress-wearing wolf talking to a rodent. By now he should have expected seeing this sort of thing - Krystalle owned a horse and Skye had a "garden" - but it was still a surprise when he encountered it in the middle of Ethereal Eclipse.

Yet again, Slade was outside the territory. In fact, he hadn't been inside Cercatori d'Arte's borders at all since he had discovered the sickening truth: Shawchert was gone. He had forced himself not to make a big deal over this, especially since he had hardly known the former leader before his disappearance, but he still couldn't believe that Shawchert would do such a thing. Now was one of those times when he had to force himself to listen to his instinct and live in the present; the past was the past, and it would stay in the past. It was confusing to think about, which was why he had to force himself not to.

This was why he was taking a break from pack drama. He wasn't even sure if he wanted to see his friend Deirdre. He just needed some time alone, not to sort out his thoughts but to take his mind off of them. Why was drama plaguing his life every time he was in the territory of his pack? Shaking his head, he was happy to have woken up early that morning. A nice early morning walk was just what he needed to clear his mind and relax for a little while, just for once. If he took in a nice, deep breath, he smelled dew, crisp morning air, mint, another canine, and a rodent... wait, what?

Slowing his walk, Slade pricked his ears, dropping so he was hiding behind a bush. He crept forward until he could peer into a small clearing dotted with mushrooms, and he had to blink several times to make sure he wasn't hallucinating. He had never seen anything like it: a young female wolf, wearing some pale-colored thing - what was it called, clothing? - talking to some rodent Slade had never seen before and calling it "Tux". Based on the way she spoke, Tux wasn't food; a shame, that was, since the rodent seemed to be strangely comfortable around canines, or at least this one in particular.

Shaking his head quickly, Slade considered just leaving, but he was making the bushes rustle and didn't want to seem like a spy. Still, he was uncertain about introducing himself to the canine and her rodent-friend-thing, and took a step back. If she asked who was there he'd reveal himself, but until then he wouldn't be the first to try an introduction.
