Kansas had been secluded to his room, drifting from one meager activity to another. One moment he was reading from his book. and the next he was strumming a nameless tune on his guitar. The entire time, he wished Savina was there with him, perhaps to distract him from his thoughts with her beauty. It seemed that he always wanted her, that her touch was what pushed him through the entire day. But Savina was nowhere to be found, and that was not at all uncommon. He had long come to understand her responsibilities, which were perpetually much greater than his own and took her away from him much longer than he preferred. Though he wanted her desperately, he was sensitive to her obligations. The trick was to occupy himself until the sun fell below the horizon and he could hold her close to him once more.

The boy fought against his dark thoughts of worthlessness and set his book and guitar aside. For so long he had been wasting his days away, not even seeking the company of his children while he awaited the reappearance of his lover. He searched the house for just one of his six pups, and when he found none of them, he exited the manor with a discouraged frown painted across his pale features. His priority was, before his selfish need to seclude, his family, and when he found none of them he was at a loss of what to do. In his Optime form, the pale Sadira walked across the rapidly growing grass in search of Lexington. The horse was in his usual haunt, t he orchard, where he nibbled at grass and apple blossoms. Kansas approached the blue beast and brushed his hand against the round cheek, pushing thehorse's jaw away from Anu's apple blossoms. C,mon, boy, he said in a gentle tone, and grasped the horse's mane tightly in his hands. He mounted the beast and steered him forward, not sure where he was headed and not caring anyway.

He kicked his heels into the horse;s sides. stirring him forward. They passed through valleys and forests, each setting enough to take Kansas' breath away, but he found nowhere to stop and instead pressed the horse forward. Eventually, the land became rocky and treacherous. It took an hour for Kansas to find a path down to the beaches, Lexington anxious and uncertain with every step he took down the slope of sand and rock. But when an incredible time had passed, Kansas was perched upon his horse on the sands of the beach, his calm turquoise eyes fixed on the endless ocean which seemed to embrace him from where it cuddled the tawny shore. Again he thought of Savina, her journey across this sea and into his arms. Sometimes, the only thoughts that would comfort him were those of his mate. His eyes still trained upon the ocean, Kansas dismounted his stallion and heaved his satchel over his shoulder. Within was plenty of bud and a good pipe. The pale Sadira moved away from Lexington and eased himself to sit in t he warm, soft sand, where he could watch the ocean and let the sound of its crashing waves remind him of the gentle embrace of his lover.
