He watched her uneasily as she collected her thoughts. She crossed her arms with careful precision and then tapped her fingers against her forearms. Unlike Hybrid, she was in her Optime form, while he – like always – was in his preferred Secui form. And so, he had to crane his neck a little to see her. Instead of standing there with his head lolling back, he took a few steps backward so that he could see her without reducing himself to the status of an idiot. He frowned when she spoke and then grunted in reply. He had nothing to say in response. If she was going to talk, she would do it whether or not he indicated his preference. Obviously he’d rather not, but he never wanted to talk and she knew that.

When she began to speak, he frowned again, wondering where she was going with this. It sounded as if she thought well of him, at least in some respects. This greatly unnerved Hybrid and he felt his fur stand on edge, as if he was concerned she would suddenly attack. When she finally admitted that they didn’t get along, he let out a quiet breath, releasing a bit of the tension. Good. He was glad that was still true. When he thought she was finished, he grunted, and was about to turn away when she caught his eye and spoke up again. However, this time, he stopped in his tracks. He whipped his head around and lowered his head and his voice.

“What,” he demanded in a low growl. “What the fuck Talitha, fuck, no, FUCK.” He couldn’t express how deeply disgusted he was by her proposal and how fucking wrong it was. She wasn’t just some coyote he disliked; she was the niece he disliked and there was a huge difference.
