HIDE YOUR INNOCENCE BEFORE THEY SEE RIGHT THROUGH
Bringing in Ravesque and Agony along with him. wc:340

Jackson had been given instructions not to stray from the packlands that day, informed by his father that they would be attending some sort of mateship ceremony. Ravesque had given his son a brief description of the ceremony an its meaning, but Jackson was still unsure of what to expect. The boy was only beginning to near the age where he would begin to truly familiarize himself with their culture, and as such was largely clueless to how everything worked and why. Nevertheless, he had obeyed and spent his time drifting through the caverns out of boredom until night fell and the Angela gave a call for the ceremony to begin. The hybrid boy caught up with his father and Agony, trailing alongside them toward the ceremonial clearing. The youngsters remained in their four-legged forms, but Ravesque had shifted, carrying in his arms a bundle of neatly folded furs--gift to the new couple to provide extra comfort and warmth to their expected pups.

As they neared the clearing, Jackson went on ahead of their small group, blue eyes taking in the sights of the Maxia Negra clearing. Tree stumps dotted the area and warm coals drew a path to the clearing's center where massive bones curved up from the ground and the Angela stood waiting for the ceremony to begin. His father settled down onto one of the stumps, and the boy dutifully settled down beside him. His sibling took a seat on the opposite side of him. Jackson gave her a playful nudge and in turn received a disdainful look. Their father caught this, clearing his throat and motioning toward the couple. This ceremony was for them, and it was clear that Ravesque would tolerate no misbehavior on the part of his children. The boy frowned, but turned blue eyes toward the embracing pair before the coals and said nothing. He still didn't understand the significance of walking across the coals. It seemed painful and unnecessary to the boy, but he knew better to voice his questions now.

YOU MUSTN'T DISAPPOINT THEM
