The flighty thief had initially shied away from exploring the caves that Naniko had indicated. Something about setting his belongings down in a place that was entirely his own was frightening to him. Maybe it was the finality of the situation that weighed heavy on his mind; it was here or nowhere, he reckoned. Or maybe because the pale woman had welcomed him so easily into the fold with scarce a question or concern over his unusually colorful past. Like a mother brimming with forgiveness for her children.
His claws clicked rhythmically against the stone as he walked down the long winding hallways. Clutched in one hand was the strap of his tattered leather bag. The contents inside were not of any particular value to anyone but him, but he was sure any would-be mugger would find cause enough to take his knife. Perhaps even the various knickknacks hidden within the pockets. Not that he suspected his pack of being a bunch of savages or anything, but he was naturally suspicious of new places and new faces.
Reaching what he assumed to be the common area, Locke turned towards where the cavern branched off into smaller sections; where the scent of each individual was strongest. Apprehension dawned and he suddenly felt very foolish about this entire venture. Seating himself on a nearby log (which was clearly dragged in from the outdoors for this exact purpose), Locke sighed and placed his head in his hands. Years away from any semblance of civilization had done a remarkable number on his ability to play it cool.
