down by the sea

Though she had wished to be alone, it didn't surprise her when soft footsteps on the Manor floor caught her attention; still, her head stayed down and her mind stayed twisted around her concern. The touch of her brother's hand caused her head to raise, turquoise eyes meeting the worried amber shade she'd come to recognize as a distinct feature. His question brought forth a sigh from the Marino sister. She shook her head, tossing around chocolate locks as if to say she didn't wish to speak of it. However, she didn't stay silent. Rising up to rest her weight on her elbows, the wild woman let her blue eyes close. "E' Sophia. Non so più che cosa fare con lei, Ehno; ella mantiene la marcia in più strane momenti della giornata." The distress was evident on each Italian syllable.

Sophia had long been like her mother, a wild spirit locked up in a small world. She couldn't fault her daughter the desire to roam, but she didn't want to see the same things that happened in her youth happen to the young woman. It was difficult to take her worries to Savina; the black leader had no children lost to the world, save the deceased Denali, and therefore Ghita was reasonably certain that her sister had never felt the same worry that resided in the brown-mottled woman. Ehno, however, had always been there for them; even if he, like Savina, wouldn't understand, he would at least offer her some form of comfort.
