All the time in the world.... p. Ouija

June 13th

The slate gray hybrid picked his way slowly through the ivy that lined the dark alleyways. The brick buildings were weathered and infested with flora. The sun was high in the sky, and it made his thick pelt feel heavy and uncomfortable. So Juna sought refuge in the decreipit buildings of Dalhousie. He sniffed cautiously, wary of anyone lurking behind shattered windows. He found his way to the back of a fat rounded tower. The door was ripped off, in shreds on the ground. The stairs that once led up to the entrance where crumbling, and he had to leap onto the half suspended platform. He put one cautious paw into the dark door way, glancing up.

The rafters were obscured by cobwebs, and the darkness was crippling, with the exception of filtered light through a shattered skylight which reveled air thick with dust. Broken glass and wood crackled beneath his paws. He looked around carefully, as his eyes ajusted, meticulously searching each corner for movement. The room was strange to Juna. The walls were lined with shelves, and there were more of them in rows through out the middle of the room. These shelves held small square objects. Books. He recognized them because his mother would bring them home, and read him to sleep. These shelves had been picked over, and they were half empty.

He padded up to the shelves, and stood on his hind legs, placing his forepaws on the highest shelf he could reach. He nosed around, sneezing at the layer of dust his muzzle stirred up. He found one leatherbound book, laying slanted on top of another whose cover print had worn completely off. He clutched the book in his jaws gingerly, attempting to avoid damaging it. He hopped down, and trotted over to the puddle of light that the skylight cast on the decaying floor. He dropped it down, and shuffled it around until he could read the cover. "On the Orgin of Spiecies". He pulled open the cover, but let it slap back down as he whipped around when he heard the snap of wood under paw.......
