It seemed as if they'd only just left Cercatori for Dahlia, and already the small family was forced to traverse the earth in search of another. Krystalle found herself exhausted. Paz and Amon were draining her physically. She almost wished she'd stayed in Nakzhi, away from Mars and the awful place she'd ended up. Instead, she was overstressed and exhausted, mother to two kids she hadn't really wanted. Paz and Amon were a handful. As carrying them had been made easier by the otter-fur sling Mars had made, she couldn't complain on that front, but it offered them the chance to fight more in close quarters. The girl kicked her brother. The boy kicked back. Both of them squirmed too much until they elicited anger from their usually passive mother.
When they stopped, she was relieved. She sat, releasing the pups from the sling to flop sideways on the ground in exhaustion. The rambunctious and young pups chewed at each other and squeaked until Mars called out to the leaders; silence fell over the twins to match their mother. It wasn't until Mars started to sing that the air was filled with anything but silence. She ignored him as he came to sit by the trio, staring into nothing with emotionless eyes. A huff of a sigh escaped her. "Shut up, Mars." Her words were quiet and annoyed, and they caused the once-more chewing puppies to fall silent again. They understood that when the woman who cared for them rumbled so, bad things were afoot.
