Heavy hands hauled stones from the earth, pushing each chipped block into place as a circle was crafted. Ravesque grunted under the exertion; his body was built for heavy work, for physical punishment, for endurance, but he found himself out-of-shape as far labour went. Of course, this had a purpose, a purpose he had yet to reveal to those he saw on a daily basis. Naniko had prompted the hulk to find his way to the foothills, and it had been the Ice Queen who fueled his stone circle. Why? He wasn't entirely sure; perhaps his heart still held a yearning for the white-furred woman, or perhaps he merely felt it was time to sit and speak with her. Either way, her face had laced itself into his mind while he worked at the base of their mountain home.
As each stone settled into its new place, he produced a small bit of chalk (where he had found the chalk, he couldn't remember) and began drawing the lines of runic marks across the surfaces. One after another — ansuz, laukaz, uruz — to craft alu. Magic, presence, supernatural. The circle was meant for something sacred — time with his white Queen. He stood straight before it, tilting his head to the side ever-so-slightly to survey the chain. It wasn't perfect. Remaining silent in his task, he worked to adjust the slabs, widening and smoothing the edge. Damn rocks. They never did what he wanted.
