The black female had waited for a response from the wolf in the tree, and at length nothing came. But, while the female had indeed been polite and had asked permission, the foreigner did not require the permission of the stranger to share the shade. It was too bright and thus too dangerous for the female to venture any further, and so she would not. She was even ready to fight for this seemingly trivial piece of land. But such action was not required. The stranger had finally responded—amiably from what the Korean could understand. There was a lack of ‘no’, and the tone was not aggressive. It was enough for the black fae. The Jindo-wolf hybrid lowered herself upon sinewy haunches before retiring fully to the shadow-cooled earth. Her eyes remained shut against the daylight, unwilling to damage her sight. As the sound of the stranger falling to the earth caused a vibration beneath her, the currently-handicapped hybrid curled her body so that her tail covered her face. Her eyes were comforted and some of the pain subsided. A mild headache had formed, but she was sure with patience and rest, and with the coming of night, that pain would subside as well. She wondered how long she must wait for the cover of darkness to fall to her shoulders once more.

The Korean hybrid had begun to doze off when the sound of approach reached her ears. Alerted, the martial artist came to full wakefulness, but she did not move—save for the swivel of her ears. Yet, when she smelled the scent of flesh, her interest was ignited and her hunger rekindled. As she slowly lifted her head curiously—almost eagerly, the stranger had offered her a rabbit. Normally she would not have accepted it as eagerly as she did—snatching it up in her strong jaws and setting to devouring it. But pride could not remain an obstacle. Indeed, she was a hunter and a warrior, and she was self sufficient. She did not need some stranger pack wolf to do her hunting as if she were still a cub. But at the moment, the situation was a bit more dire than the lone hybrid would have preferred, and so she accepted the meal in humbled silence.

The blood flowed onto her tongue as she pulled away the flesh. Once the hair and hide had been sufficiently removed, the female discriminated no further. She ate the flesh and the organs and even the bones, crushing them in her teeth and consuming the rich marrow. While small, devouring every inch of the rabbit had given her enough energy to endure the wait until nightfall more comfortably. The obsidian female could not help but be thankful.

Eyes still closed to daylight, the Jindo-wolf turned to the stranger. “Ddehng-kyoo,” the alto song offered as she licked the last of the snack from her lips. She did not know how the other had known of her great hunger, but she did not question it. Although, after a brief, almost awkward silence, the female asked, “Wah-ee hehl-peu mi?”
