There were cobbles here. The sound of the horses hooves against the uneven rocks make his ear ring with rhythm. Alder moved to the clatter, his heart was light and weightless. Sitting a top of the stallion Alder had little to fear, and little to worry about. His mind was on the horse, focused and away from worries he had once been engulfed in. It enabled him to search the new port, a place he had never know and a place no one had taken him to. It was inside the borders yes. But it was still new, and his pride soared above him like a balloon on a sting.
His dark hand patted the neck of Hawthorn, and he spoke in the low speech to thank the horse for bringing him here. There were hare tied to the horse's back, caught from the trails he had taken to get here. He would bring them to Haven, for the pups and Princess. It had been many days since he had brought food to them, and he felt the obligation bubble in his chest.
Alder dismounted, and lead the stallion through the street. There were weather worn signs hanging from the windows, some spoke of shops others places to bed. Windows were cracked and broken, doors broken at the hinges and roofs caved in. But there was still a quaint nature instilled in the clustered buildings of the small road in the port city. He had seen other sections, steel and concrete and glass. But this was old, much older then he and even older then the packs and the wolves. Older then the humans who had eventually died here. It fit him, and his horse companion.
