Alder felt extremely uncomfortable after he yelled at the gray wolf. He had deserved it, for speaking to Hawthorn like that, but then a small part of him said that he shouldn't yell like that at wolves above him. Despite his rank Alder's personality put him beneath most other wolves, and his natural submissive nature made it extremely hard for him to stand up for himself. He tried to shake the feeling, though his ears fell against his skull and his eyes became much softer and far sadder.
With his second response Alder took the rope that was attached the to the horse and asked in low-speech for Hawthorn to come along with him. He said to follow, but it took his asking twice to get the horse to back up a few paces and then move with Alder. They only got a few feet away before the horse stopped, staring at the other wolf for his eyes had never left Keese. Once more Alder asked, this time his tone was harder. He just wanted to get away, be away and back home. 'Thorn moved again, though watched Keese until they were too far for his neck to turn and stare.
