How he loathed to leave the small male's side so he dreaded the time at night when he had to bid the world adieu and fall asleep with his master, knowing that in the morning there was a good chance that he would have to leave him in order to go and do what he had to do. It was his job to stay around and play the part of boogeyman, chasing off all those that came into contact with him based on his looks and his actions and he had to say that so far his sanguine nature had really begun to shine through, nurtured by his one and only master, the only one ever able to give him just the right hand of leniency and restriction. Gladly he would go into battle for his master and would never look behind him dreamily at the landscape, even if he called it home. Even though his home was in Salsola it didn’t matter where it was so long as he had his one and only with him. Ah how he missed Bastion in the times that he had to be parted from him but he had to go and feed and hunt for the two of them and besides, he had his hands full attempting to do what needed to be done about spying on other packs. He would show that he could make himself useful one way or another.

The morning bloomed cold and gloomy, earning a grunt from the furred male as he woke himself up, his clothing in disarray from sleeping the night previous. The scent of his cherub told him that Bastion was already gone somewhere and he was once again left to his own devices. Well this worked out well anyway. He would go and do some more exploring, allowing himself to see all that there was to see about the boundaries that he found himself in, seeing just what weak spots he could probe as well as seeing just what lines would behoove him to not go over. Standing up on his two hind legs as he was most comfortable with, he resettled the clothing around his body before he reached down to grab up his jacket that he had been using as a pillow for both him and the smaller male that he shared the space with. It smelled like Bastion and gave the more submissive of the two males a little easier time with being apart from him. He would just have to be careful about where he went and what he did so that way he could come home to the owner of the scent. Before he left, he made sure that his mark of his pack was covered but did nothing to hide the brand on the back of his neck. That he had no business or no want to hide.

The first steps away were the hardest before he seemed to gather up whatever courage was granted to him, leaving, stealing away from the home that he knew. Once he felt himself leaving the pack perimeter, something didn’t feel quite right with him so he went back, sniffing around the edge where the scent disappeared. Finding that there was nothing wrong, no strange scents that entered under his watch, he left, taking a slight pause well outside of the border to roll around in some flowers and rub his body up against a tree to take on more of the rogue scent before continuing on. He didn’t want anyone knowing that he was from Salsola unless he could help it and it wasn’t because he wasn’t happy to be there in the lands but rather because he didn’t want to be the cause for any sort of commotion that the leaders weren’t ready for yet. The arbiter wound his way out, the boogeyman nothing more than that, a wraith on the wings of the fog as it rolled in, blanketing the surroundings. The sun was just barely beginning to peep over the horizon, shedding yellow bars around, trying desperately and failing to break through the thick layer of low clouds that stubbornly clung to the earth.

Paws waded through it, the cold tendrils no more than that against his leg. He could barely even feel it through his fur anyways. Ears swiveled to catch sounds, the tattered remains of one of his ears doing far less movement than the other but still they did their job but nothing was alerted to him. Nothing was off, nothing was fishy and that in and of itself made him uneasy. For so long he had been living in fear so now to not have such a burden hanging over your head was something that was going to take some getting used to on his part. Lands yawned open before him and he carried on until he came to an area completely unbeknownst to him previously. It was a land that seemed to be lost in time, stuck in a time frozen but then again most places around here had the same uncanny feel to them. By now the mist had all but evaporated, leaving the green of the grass and other various plants wet with the condensation. It made his fur stick to his legs in a most uncomfortable manner but he didn’t have time to think about it, meandering his way down into the valley below. Coming upon one of the buildings that had been completely overtaken by time and nature, he forced his way through the shrubbery into the main hall and looked around, sharp eyes looking around but his head swiveled more to accommodate his weak left eye, taking in the sights and smells of this new place that he found himself in. Walking through, he found a set of steps and walked up them, claws helping with traction against the otherwise slippery moss. Once up on the rooftop, he looked out, breathing in deeply as he stood on the precipice, looking down at the green world below, the spot offering a good oversight to the ghost town.
