Fyre felt his spirits rise. Just seeing a smile helped to sweep away some of the fears that had faced him. He smiled, though it was small and barely noticeable. He was not one to usually carry a happy face. His tail stayed low and his ears stayed flat, but his eyes burned in glee. He chuckled a little, feeling dumb at the grizzly bear statement. His ears perked at the wolf’s words, nodding mostly to himself as he thought of his rank. Life will be normal now, he thought. Just be as perfect as possible, make a few friends, and maybe life will be peaceful. But this was only one sunny thought over the storm in mind.
He scrunched back when the wolf moved toward him. He trusted easy, maybe too easy, but he was still young and still wary. He glanced into the blue eyes and, feeling bad for staring for even a few seconds, dipped his head and mumbled something about being happy to have his own room. He turned his head to take one more look at where he came from. He turned back, following the wolf and taking his first step away from the life of a loner.
