Paz and Amon were always a handful, even as they stalked their mother out of the house. Krystalle's bear-like son stamped on the ground, pretending he was larger than he really was as his sister rolled around in the remnants of ivy that Mars had cut away from their house. The Horzana woman rolled her eyes, watching her similarly-coloured daughter's antics in the foliage before she was affectionately crushed beneath the tricoloured body of her older brother. A squeaky yelp rose from the throat of the little Russo girl — "Ahmooooon, offas meeeeee!" — before she was saved by the white-tipped hands of her mother as Amon was hoisted up into her arms. The growing boy squirmed, unwilling to be carried the rest of the way toward Rabbit Lake.
When the pale blue surface came into view, Krystalle pointed towards the water lackadaisically. "We call that Rabbit Lake. Conejo lago. Rabbit lake." It was Amon who piped up a mimicry of his mother's voice: "Babbim!" Her eyes rolled in their sockets as she proceeded further towards the lake itself.
It was Paz who noticed someone first, and her awkward curiosity caused her to bounce over without waiting for an 'okay' from the older female. It took a moment for Krystalle to realize her daughter had wandered away, but sure enough...once she caught sight of the ball of tan fur, she hurried after the girl and scooped her up off the ground. The scent of clay was what caused her to stay in her place, watching the boy in the short distance with vague wonder. "'re you makin' something?"
