There was something up. Ayasha could tell. She wasn’t sure what yet but it was troubling her mother. Her mother had come home after the coming of the four strangers visibly shaken. Her siblings could tell as well. But Ralla wouldn’t tell her what was wrong.
So when the call from Dawali came, she followed after her mother, herding her siblings with her. She inspected the newcomers and immediately had her defenses up. Even though the adults seemed to respect them, there was something about them that she feared.
And then the news came. Dawali was no longer Chief. And her mother, Liliana, and Nayati were all Itse. Plus, Dawali was Itawamba. Dawali had lied? She had never heard of this “Achak Aatu.” She couldn’t really believe it. She looked over at Ralla and saw that her mother seemed to think that there was something wrong.
They were apparently supposed to leave and not look at Dawali. She gave a quiet growl. There had to be something that could be done. But she also knew that this was not the place to do so. But she vowed that she would get Dawali back to his rightful place. As the AniWaya chief.
