He tried to be as gentle as he could, but as soon as he lay his hand against her abdomen she flinched back away from him. Knowing now that it was incredibly sensative, he waited until she had composed herself enough to return her absent abdomen to his hand before he very gently rolled his hand across her stomach. The muscle was rock hard towards the lower end of her stomach and Saul frowned softly. He knew what was wrong with her, but it was eluding him. The answer was staring him in the face, yet his brain refused to cough up the answer. He tried his best to remain gentle as he moved to either side, noticing the lack of hardness to her sides. If anything, he would say the muscle around her skin was growing softer, but he didnt know her well enough to say for certain. She spoke up, her voice completely unsure of what was going on. She mentioned a trip to the mountains, thinking of possible ways in which her body could hurt this much.
She didnt need to say anything else however. The word 'mate' had triggered the memories in Saul. He could see Bris clearly, round with child. Her scent was the same. He could see his aunt growing round and larger as her pregnancy continued and he remembered the hardness in her gut when Saul had asked to feel her stomach. It clicked into place like a piece of a jigsaw and Saul's head snapped up softly. She obviously had no idea she was pregnant and he wondered briefly if it was even planned. "Ever... I don't mean to be rude, but... have you and your mate been very... intimate recently? Have you had sex with him?" It was an embarrassing line to get out, but he had to know if it was true. The signs pointed in that direction, but this question would let him know for certain whether she was pregnant or not. He moved a step closer, nose twitching as he tasted her scent on his nose. There was no mistaking that smell anymore.
