He snorted as she commented on his looks, spraying the more slowly-coming blood across some fur. "I can't get any uglier than your son; that boy needs to be taught respect, you're slacking." He spoke, of course, of Scorpius — his recent encounter with the boy had left him desiring to push him back into the fire where Harlowe had left him, but his apathy kept him from truly doing such a thing. Though he didn't care, and though he had no reason to be offended as he expected she was teasing him, there was a faint sense of discomfort at the idea that she found him unattractive. It was certainly possible, she hadn't come to him in quite some time, and the fact that she was with child indicated she hadn't been similarly celibate. It didn't matter.
He approached and she approached and as his hand brushed her cheek, she pulled away and cast her eyes down. His surprise was short lived — as she returned to her usual demeanor, his confusion faded away into nothing. She threatened his hand. He wasn't allowed to touch her. The idea made him frown, flames shooting through the upper portion of his jaw as the muscles contracted. His chance to reply was stifled by questions: what did it feel like, could he move his jaw, could he open his mouth? He exhaled a sigh and tried to show her the damage, his mouth opening wide enough to show broken teeth along the left side — the action shot another uncomfortable surge of pain through his nerves and he closed his mouth almost as quickly as it opened. "I heard a crack, didn' feel much aside from the blistering pain." It was all getting to him, the pain building up and spilling out in irritation. He wanted his tea. Dammit.
