The Sword in the Stone

She watched as Shaw moved just out of her reach and waited for a moment - but in that moment, Shawchert lunged out at a distance, his sword swiping at her side; although she jumped out of the way nimbly, the flat of his blade still whacked her side, leaving it stinging. She looked at the other man, her eyes shining; it's on!

The way she had moved had left her open for further attack from the man; she was also closer to him now. She realized his advantage - he didn't need to move in close to her, because his weapon was far-reaching and hers was shorter. Keeping her at a distance would make her unable to attack, but leaving him free to do so. While moving closer was risky - he still had the larger weapon - it also left her free to attack him. Without waiting for him to make another move again, she tried something a bit risky she had practiced earlier.

With no warning, she shot her blade towards the man's right side, her entire body shifting right; withdrawing her hand and blade at the last second, she turned all the way around at the last second and swiped the flat of her blade at the man's left shoulder; with any luck, he'd be confused and tricked by her first faux attack and not be able to block the second.
