Rain down, rain down on me

Backdated to July 29. Sunki and Lili post first, then Anu.

The Utina family had fled the AniWayan lands during the dark of night, taking everything they could. At first they had pressed their horses hard to put distance between them and the Guardians in case they were discovered sooner rather than later. Nayati had been exiled, but Maska had wanted him to leave alone, as if the hunter would really abandon his family to what the tribe had become under the Councilman's leadership. The first time they stopped to rest he had held watched and thought long and hard on where to take his family where they might be safe. Even though living in the tribe had no longer been safe for them (for Liliana at least), he knew he had also put them all in danger by taking them with him. At least outside of AniWaya he could protect them, keep them away from Maska and his Guardians. But where could they go now? Going back to the Great Tribe was not an option and the Utina had not given up hope on AniWaya yet.

When his family had woken he had told them where he meant to take them all. The route that he took them on was circuitous and Nayati often road off in different directions from the rest of the family and covered their tracks as much as possible. They would likely be found eventually, but he wanted to delay that outcome as long as he possibly could. The small group traveled all the way around to the eastern border of the pack he had brought them to and as they arrived on horseback the man dismounted and sent out a call for the woman named Anu. He could only hope and pray that she would allow him and his family to seek sanctuary within her pack. Weary, and still sore from his confrontation with Maska, Nayati looked back to his mate and sister and the children they each carried and offered them a smile infused with more joy and confidence than he actually felt himself.
