The sun had started its downward decent over the land. The air was warm with the heat of summer, but a gentle breeze kept temperatures comfortable. Dark brown paws carried the youth over the familiar pathway that lead through the garden. Bright blue eyes searched for the gray form of his mother. As he went his ears swiveled, taking in the various sounds that filled the flower beds his mother kept. The flowers attracted various insects and the insect in turn attracted various birds. Some colorful, some plain, some that sang beautifully and others, like the swallows, that it was their graceful flight that the youth found more attractive.
When Cypress didn't find his mother out in the gardens he quickly trotted back to the front door of the manor and made his way inside. He would take a quick sweep of the common rooms before finally heading up the stairs towards her room. The boy had taken his mother's advice. Hunting and patrolling the borders far more often than youth had previously. He had even tried his hand at few other things, like his attempt to make new pot for Anu to replace the one he had shattered. And as his mother had said it would his anger had diminished and he had not had another outbreak as he had with the flower pot.
Still, he felt the anger within him bubble and grow at times. When the hunt grew frustrating after failed attempt followed by failed attempt. Cypress was trying to find himself. Where he fit in life. But he felt lost; unable to see the forest for all the trees. His mother had told him more than once that he resembled his father, yet always reminding him that he still had her eyes. They all did and yet Cypress felt himself the farthest from her of the three. He wished to know more about his father. His thinking was that perhaps he was more like this man than just in appearance alone. "Mom?" He questioned at her cracked door as he gave it a light scratch.
