An ear twitched and Thel was suddenly keen on the presence of another, but only after she had noticed his relaxing activity. Well, there were a lot worse things he could be doing with them than scratching. His hand jerked back and quickly went to his knee as though he hadn't been doing a thing, but if was clear from the woman's embarrassment that he had been caught. He couldn't help but grin sheepishly. She didn't see his grin, though, because she was now executing a prompt about-face. If he didn't say something fast she'd get away, and he really didn't feel like spending the afternoon alone.
“Uh, wait, miss!” He started, but stopped once he realized he didn't have much more to say beyond sorry you caught me scratching my nuts. He stumbled over his words for a moment, jumbled syllables were all he could get out, then he stopped, steeled himself, and started again.
“Won't you join me for a sit?” He offered, now putting that hand to much more diplomatic use as he patted the ground next to him. Would she forgive him his little creature comfort, or would she continue to scurry off as though he were dung on a stick? After having lived for so long on his own and just now becoming part of the pack, he realized a part of him yearned to know his pack-mates. Not to mention that one of the perks of this whole thing was the possibility of finding himself a woman and settling down. This one was cute, looked young, and had quite the exotic pelt. Not a bad looking little thing at all...
Don't perv out on the locals before you get to know them, Thel, the little voice inside his head known as his conscience chimed in. You'll scare them all away before you even get a chance to talk to them. Like right now. Maybe he should let her go, it wasn't that bad of a sight...
