Quote:Skadi felt a sharp little prick upon one of the pads of her paw though she did her best to ignore the sting as she tried to press the child down so she could not get a good bite at her again, trying to take advantage of the fact that the girl was losing balance. The little imp's words were met by the baring of Skadi's teeth, though not as easily deflected; the woman flinched back, ears slicking down and teeth once again hidden. Skadi, by nature, was not a wretched woman and to be viewed in that way by this small child-even though the child was completely undisciplined and hurtful-took the sandy-grey wolf aback. “You think so?” She asked, voice slightly more calm with a hint of frustration in the mix. “Seems to me like you've just gotten your own way way to many times and don't know a thing about discipline.” And Skadi knew she wasn't the one to be dishing out that discipline, though one more smart remark and the woman would feel it in her right to serve some up, "wretched" comment or no.
Quote:After yesterday Skadi remained on the pack's territory, fearful of travelling near the mountains now, though everywhere she looked all she could see was the snowy peaks that surrounded this valley. Every now and then the earth would tremble; sometimes it was just barely noticeable, other times she felt it in her bones. Such a persistent shake that sometimes she thought she was imaginig it. The lake that made up most of her new home was starting to take on a strange quality, causing Skadi to travel south of the territory to take from other water sources and although she was now well rested she felt a pressure in the air that was exhausting her all over again. The sandy, grey saddled woman was up early like most days, wandering the territories outskirts out of habit from a previous life of leading and protecting her family. It wasn't much of a surprise when she spotted the cinnamon form of the male who had accepted her not even two days before. She trotted to catch up then fell in beside him, matching his pace in silence for a short time before greeting him, "hello again Thor." Her own sandy fur glittered in the rising sun, eyes reflecting the sun and taking on a hot-white hue. She would wander the border with him whether in silence or idle chat if he so chose, or leave him be if he wished. Either way the tall, sinewy woman would do the same until her legs tired and her belly begged for nourishment.
Quote:As the days wore on Skadi was starting to become skittish of the mountain, avoiding of it at all costs and sadly avoiding the lake that made up most of this once flourishing territory. It seemed as if most of the prey had left, the few that remained burrowed or hidden away as the fumes from the mount drew ever nearer. The silver-eyed woman continued to patrol the borders of the lake mainly to have an excuse to avoid the body of water and the sting it left in her nostrils. The woman had been thinking many a night that she should just get up and live, disappear from this pack as if she had never existed, but ever since seeing the tiny, silver Roanoke she knew leaving would be difficult now. There were young here and they reminded her of her own cousins whom she had raised, so when the call came a wave of relief washed over her and Skadi was quick to find her leader. “I wish we had met sooner,” Skadi said with a measure of solemness to her usually confident voice as she approached Skoll, “but I will continue to travel with you and yours.” Sooner rather then later was left unsaid, though she knew by the looks of this commanding wraith and his wish that the pack leave she was not worried about that, not anymore. With that said the tall, sandy-grey woman stood off to the side for a moment to see who else might arrive, cautious of the large, intimidating male until, after a time, she left to wander nearby, keeping a wide birth of the noxious lake that once must have held such promise and life.
