They had been back in the pack for little over a week now, and their 'just settling in' time was drawing to a close. Shawchert had labored for days to make the Treetop Terrace accommodate the children and Orin, Orin herself had helped where she could, foraging for supplies and lugging them back to their woodsy home. Much of the mother's time was spent worrying about her daughters, though, which was entirely normal even if they had not experienced the family tragedy. At first it felt like any minute one would take a flying leap over an edge and plummet to the ground, and sometimes they got real close, but somehow that never happened, and nine days later her pups were still floofy balls of energy, not flat splats on the mossy forest floor. They were almost completely settled in now, and soon Orin would move her family into one of the structures she liked better, a place that would be their permanent home – she had just been waiting on a few repairs and updates to it.

As the updates to their home came nearer to completion, the work for Orin was just beginning. There was nothing in their home! No bed, no chairs, no tables, no furniture at all! They needed shelves so her daughters could each have their own space, and of course the place could use a bit of personal touch to make it look more homely. With all of this in mind, Orin had gone out from the treetop village in search of useful provisions. She only went as far as the hunting lodge. For one, she had not rummaged there yet for supplies. Secondly, she would not be so far from her daughters that she could not race back to them in the matter of minutes.

The Optime loaded up her hands with as many things she could carry – mostly a few linens that were salvageable. She would have to employ a few pack mates' help if she wanted to bring over any of the more formidable furniture, as much of it was larger than herself. Come to think of it, how did Shawchert expect to get those things up into the village in the sky? Well, he must have had something worked out. After all, he'd already gotten all the materials up there to build the darn place.

It wasn't long until Orin tread the ground beneath the village. Arms loaded with bundled cloth, she glanced around, knowing her daughter was off playing. She shouldn't have wandered too far, she hoped. “Juliet?” She called calmly and kept walking toward the familiar trunk of the tree that was their future home. “Juliet! Come out, come out, wherever you are.” She sang the words merrily as she dropped the load at the roots of the tree. It was a dry day and nothing would happen to them here.

There was a stretch of silence, and Orin tried to bite back her worry. She began to look around and a little more forcefully this time, she called again, “Juliet! Where are you?” She tried to hold back. The girl could just be a ways away. She didn't have to always jump to the conclusion that she had been taken by some monster. After all, they were in Cercatori now and this place was well protected. She tried not to remind herself that Cercatori was where her son had been taken from.
