Leon stood easily, his pole arm gripped tightly in his right hand. He allowed his eyes to wander over the southern wolves, his expression remaining neutral, even as looked upon their frail leader. The Timber was disgusted by the thin male, disgusted that such a man could lead a pack, and even more so that the coward hadn’t even led his wolves in the raid. His gaze hardened and he moved along the line but stopped almost immediately, staring at a hooded female standing right beside the robed leader.

He could feel the woman’s eyes glaring straight at him. The hatred was tangible. Leon stared into the shadow of the hood, trying to discern features when the woman pulled the hood back, revealing her bandaged face, which he recognized immediately. His back stiffened, though his expression remained the same as he stared back at her. Cutting out her eye was an act committed for the sake of protecting his home, as angry as he had been. She had gotten too far into Dreamers territory and needed to be stopped. But her obvious disdain for him made him wince mentally as he realized that he had handicapped her for life. He allowed his slight regret to float across his face before disappearing as he heard a pained yelp.

His eyes found the source and he felt his heart sink. The two females Aniwaya had captured were just behind the line of southern wolves, Savina’s niece standing with a broken look on her face, and Anu lay on the ground where she had fallen. Both looked weak and abused, and there were obvious signs of bruising where the collars had been placed. Leon’s face deformed into a fierce snarl, lying ears back, and fully exposing his teeth. A deep growl rumbled from his chest as he moved his gaze back to the cowardly leader. His eyes darkened as the thinner male smiled cockly. “Savina…” He ground out between his teeth. “Please… Let me kill that rat…”
