Sa'adat al-Masri
her testament to the sky

The appearance of the autumn-colored Centurion was not surprising to the jackayote woman, but it was fraught with discomfort as Talitha quickly attacked the stranger with her abrasive attitude. Sa'adat was taught at a young age not to treat strangers, and certainly never men, in such a way — Talitha was free, however, and only bowed to the golden saviour she knew to be Ezekiel, the Aquila. Something deep inside of the woman envied the de le Poer's ability to be so cruel with her words, her ability to be loud and brash and cold when all the Egyptian could muster were the whispering words and female submission.

Talitha spoke about Enkiel, causing Sa'adat's features to grow wide and melancholy — was she teasing the younger female? It certainly seemed so, and it was enough to cause the jackal woman to turn from the group and make her way back towards the building she shared with Enkiel and his patients.
