The winds of change

This is actually a part of Naniko's past that's real :]

She was starving, almost. Her body was thinner than it had ever been, and yet she still continued her quest around Chimera and into the surrounding territory. She needed to find her parents; little Naniko had fallen asleep next to their breathing forms and had awoken to find both of them and Pontiac missing. She didn't know what to make of this, as they had always been around...she'd been the one who had wandered away and gotten into trouble in the past. Never her parents. The oddest part about the entire situation had been the fact that she couldn't smell their scents any longer. They had nearly swept the place clean, all of their treasured belongings going out with them when they had taken off from the packlands for a better life. They had taken everything, even Pontiac. Why not her?

At first she had done nothing but cry about it, whine and roll about in their scents. After that hadn't solved anything, though, she had gone to Physe to demand an answer out of him. She didn't know if he would have information on this or not, but he had been a more highly ranked wolf in the pack and was her "second daddy", according to Roman. So if anyone would know, he would. But he hadn't had much information for her, only the fact that he had seen them passing over the hills early in the morning. He didn't know where they had been going or why. Naniko had heaved a sigh at the medium-sized copper wolf before going on her way. She would find them eventually.

The four-month-old awoke with a start, a dreamlike drowsiness obvious in her eyes. She'd been having a dream about her parents again, a dream in which she'd been snuggled up close to Kaelyn's side. She missed that; with the changing of the seasons the lands were growing a little colder, and her mother had always helped to keep her warmer at night. A voice from above made her tilt her head as far back as it would go, jade eyes widening in shock and surprise. Was this one of the monsters she had been warned about as a child? It didn't look like it was going to attack, but maybe it was just hiding its evil ways behind a mask of kindness. She let out a whine of fear, ears going back as she dropped down nearer to the ground. She wasn't as afraid of the stranger as she was of the horse, eyes darting between the two. "I h-haffff no bed" She stammered.
