How troublesome... the thought occurred to him again and again as he and the female had made their way across the mountain range. For the most part, the territory had be easy enough to navigate through, the footing upon the ...edger parts of the rocky terrain was okay; not the best to walk on, but if one was careful then there were no issues. Progress would have been much faster if he hadn't had to make the odd 'pit stop' for his distressed and often gawking companion. Looking upon her, the memory of when he first encountered the young one fluttered through his mind and he had to suppress the urge to laugh, but he couldn't quite stop the amused smirk and a slight shake of his head, still unable to believe she had truly asked such a question. Despite how he often considered his new-found tag-along a pain in the backside, he couldn't deny the fact she was both interesting and amusing company, if a little too-dependent upon him. Everything about her was different, naive and innocent; something he had never truly seen in a female before. Sure, he'd seen females attempt to appear all sweet and kind, to hide their nastier interiors, but he was sure that every reactions, every word from the young jackal was genuine and truthful. Such a sheltered child... and once more he found himself shaking his head in utter disbelief.

“If ya don't 'urry up, i'll leave ya behind. Maybe a group o' big, scary, jackal-eating teddy bears will find ya and 'ave ya for dinner” he shouted to her over his shoulder, not stopping to look back and view her reaction, determined to reach the nearest pack borders as soon as possible. For awhile now, he had scented a pack, one that, if rumours were true and accurate, was the home of one of his nephews. Not that he held much hope for the tales to be true, but with his added baggage, it seemed logical to approach the nearest pack and as to join their ranks; whether the lost child was there or not.

Thankfully, it wasn't long before the pair reached the borders; the scent of canines filled his nose and he cast his red eye to the lands before him, which seemed unusually empty for a pack fabled to be large within these lands. Throwing his head back, he called for someone's assistance.
