Haven had understood completely the need to wait and learn all they could about the situation in AniWaya before launching their mission, but that had not made him any less anxious for this night to get here. Every moment his mother was held in their clutches it was another moment that she could be on the brink of death. The Knight knew they had threatened her life and that was why she had not been saved when Crimson Dreams had gone to speak with the new tribe leader. It was likely they would keep her alive for as long as she was useful to them, but he held no illusions about the way Anu was being treated. It was not well, and his mother was not a young wolf. How much could she withstand before it became simply too much for her?
Drogon had followed Haven obediently as they made their way towards the edge of the tribe's lands. The stallion was not always a quiet creature, but he seemed to sense how important this was to his friend and the other wolves and so the large beast moved as stealthily as he was able. Haven himself wore nothing more than his usual garments—the armor he owned would have made him slow, clunky, and loud. None of those traits were at all ideal for the plan they had hatched.
When the King asked if they were ready, the Knight only looked to him with a look of stoney determination on his face. Haven had been waiting for this night for a long time, and he was ready to do whatever was necessary to rescue his mother and the rest of the prisoners.
