A soft rustle announced the presence of company. A quick glance told him it was a copper female — it also told him she was none too happy looking. Or sounding. As an added bonus, she was armed. Eesh. His ears slicked back automatically and he hunched close to the earth, tail tucked in submission. Fortunately, her being shifted and him not, it wasn't hard to appear small. His eyes stayed low to the ground and pointed in the direction of her feet, but unfocused. If she advanced, he'd bolt. Barrett, he started, before tacking on, almost as an afterthought: Poer de Aika XIII. But uh, Barry's fine. He was really starting to take for granted that this was an okay place for him to be. It was kind of queer, but he truthfully had more family and friends in Inferni than anywhere else. Still, he hardly looked the part; he couldn't blame her for being on edge.

As for what he was doing here? Just seeing if Zeke was around, I guess. Got tired of the city, he explained with a shrug. It wasn't impressive, but it was the truth. As his eyes trailed down again, he realised something else — a slight bulge incongruous with the rest of her lithe, athletic appearance. A careful whiff confirmed his suspicions: she was pregnant. He made no comment on that, but on the other thing — Say, you related to Kaena? A couple optimistic flops of his tail accompanied the question. She wasn't who he'd set out to find, but she was still company.
